Philanthropic Contribution
Powerpire, a staunch advocate for corporate community engagement, has recently extended a philanthropic gesture towards the St. George Christakis Hassapis Centre for Children with Special Needs, located in Larnaca, Cyprus. This charitable contribution represents a concrete manifestation of Powerpire’s steadfast commitment to actively support the local community.
Established in 1992, the St. George Christakis Hassapis Centre operates with a noble mission: to provide unwavering care and support to children and adults grappling with profound physical and mental disabilities, many of whom call the center their permanent home.
Tragically, a devastating fire on June 9th, 2020, inflicted severe damage upon the center’s facilities. The process of restoration remains underway, and the center is reliant on the generosity of charitable donations to facilitate the required repairs and, in turn, fully reinstate its vital services.
Powerpire’s contribution has been channeled towards these ongoing restoration efforts, solidifying its unwavering support for the center’s enduring role in catering to the needs of the community.
To convey this generous donation, Gregori Papagregoriou, the Financial Controller at Powerpire, led a delegation of Powerpire representatives to visit the center and engage with its management. This visit provided invaluable insight into the center’s pressing needs and how Powerpire’s assistance can be most effectively deployed.
It is noteworthy that the St. George Christakis Hassapis Centre primarily relies on a modest annual government grant, which falls short of covering the bulk of its operational expenses. Consequently, the center continues to lean on additional financial support, such as benevolent contributions, to bridge the substantial financial gap required to sustain the provision of care and support to individuals with disabilities.
